In November 1835, Texas lawmakers created a corps of Texas Rangers to guard the frontier between the Brazos and Trinity Rivers. Born in Mooreville, Mississippi, Texas Ranger, hunter, and merchant W. F. Dick Sullivan (b. 1854) moved to Pilot Point, Texas, in 1868. Eventually he relocated to San Saba, Texas.
